Mexican HOT DOGS - YUM!!

If you live or have visited LA or SF nightlife you've probably seen Mexican style hot dogs being served on the street in small mobile carts. They're popping up just about everywhere there is some street life at night and the hot dogs are pretty tasty in a not so traditional way. The Mexican style dogs are even better south of the border in Guadalajara and surrounding areas where the ingredients are more true to the Mexican hot dog game. On my recent visit to Tepatitlan, Jalisco I enjoyed all the dogs I could while still making room for traditional tacos. I'm a huge hot dog fan and have tried eating them just about everywhere and Mexican dogs are by far my favorite. I'm not completely sure what the toppings are but from what I gather it involves mustard, an altered ketchup sauce, diced tomatoes and onions, and mayonnaise all served up on a steamed bun with bacon wrapped around the dog...delicious! The closest thing I've seen in the U.S. is the "Guadalajara Dog" served up at Pink's in Hollywood. While that dog is good, it pales in comparison to how good the real Mexican dogs are.

Off To Mexico but First LA by way of Ameican Eagle

Photo

Currently at the San Jose airport and flying to LAX by way of American Eagle. First time I flew on the Eagle to LA it was over 4 years ago for my interview at the Santa Monica Apple office. I took the job but vowed never to fly Eagle again. I wasn't fond of flying in a very small propeller plane which experienced so much tuebulance. Plus when you land in LAX you have to wait on the tarmac for a while until a shuttle comes by and delivers you to the American terminal which is still pretty good walking distance from ground transportation. Southwest may be flawed in a million and one ways but it does offer the most convenient flight from NorCal to SoCal. Since I'm grabbing a connecting flight in LAX for Mexico, I'll give it another shot;-).
